Star Wars and Mindfulness

Star Wars

Movies are a wonderful forum to learn new things and expand your mental horizons.  The Star Wars movies offer some of the greatest mindful principles of all time.  One of the best lines from all the movies was:
“Luke, Use the Force” -Darth Vader
The Star Wars movies were loaded with messages about how to overcome self-doubt and fear through the use of awareness.  The current issue of Mindful magazine has an article called, “Luke, I’m Your Dad.” It explains the relationship between mindfulness and the Star Wars movies.  “The force, it turns out, may be mindfulness.”
That saying, “Luke, use the force.”, implies that when you look within yourself for motivation and focus, all that you need to succeed is present within you. Here is a list of other quotations from the Star Wars films that emphasize the value of mindfulness:

Yoda

“Do or do not. There is no try.” -Yoda
“Fear is the path to the dark side.  Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” -Yoda
“Always remember, your focus determines your reality.” -Qui-Gon Jinn
“Trust your feelings, Luke.: -Obi-Wan Kenobi

Qui-Gon Jinn

“Don’t focus on your anxiety, Obi-Wan. Keep your concentration on the here and now where it belongs.” -Qui-Gon Jinn
“Stretch out with your feelings.” Obi-Wan Kenobi
Make some popcorn and settle in for some mindfulness on film.  Rent some Star Wars this weekend. Enjoy.
